Izzai Angulo (b. 1998 Tucson, Arizona) is a Mexican artist working in photography and sculpture while highlighting the working class. His work consists of worn fabrics, self-constructed frames, and manipulated plastic. Martinez Angulo’s practice centers his family within the domestic space and societal gender norms. Family, intimacy, and masculinity are at the core of his work.
In previous works, Martinez Angulo explores masculinity and vulnerability through self-portraiture and the documentation of his dying father.
He got his Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from the University of Arizona and is currently a 2nd year Master of Fine Arts student at the University of California, San Diego.
